Silverwind's paws echoed across the cold stones leading into the Mothermouth cave. She swallowed a lump in her throat. She was nervous, but she knew StarClan would lead her through. Slinking along the dark, narrow passageway, her heart was beating a mile a minute. At last she emerged into a larger cave, where a enormous stone lay in front of her. Starbeams drifted down, and the moon was brilliant. Laying down on the floor of the cave, Silverstar pressed her nose to the chilling stone. A shock ran through her instantly.

~Dreams~

Silverwind felt as though she was floating above the ground, light and carefree. She recognized this place as Fourtrees, the gathering place for all clans. Down below her, lions and tigers roamed, stalking their prey with amazing strength and agility. Then time seemed to fast-forward, and the fierce cats became smaller and smaller cats, cats like herself. Silverstar recognized these clans as the clans of ages past, ThunderClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and WindCLan. Even Tigerstar. A shiver ran down Silverwind's spine. She saw horrible monsters chop down the very trees themselves, and watched them grow back in the same exact place. At last, the hollow was empty, except for a shining patch of light. Silverwind floated down to the ground, and watched before her very eyes as a cat materialized out of that patch. The cat took on a long, lean shape with a long tail, shining blue eyes and a gray pelt. silverwind realized the cat looked exaclty like her. "Silverwind." the cat spoke. Its voice sounded like one cat's, yet it echoed with the voice of one hundred cats. "It is time for you to become a leader, a leader of StormClan." the cat looked her in the eye. "Are you ready?" Silverwind nodded solemnly. "Yes." she wanted to ask, "Who are you?", but she held back and watched as the cat stood up and rang out, "Then I give you your nine lives.

Truth~To serve your clan with a clear conscience
Faith~In your clan to do the best they can do
Compassion~To care for the yound and the old, the weak and the strong
Courage~To bravely fight to the death
Loyalty~To stick with your clan no matter what
Energy~To never tire and run free as a warrior cat
Knowledge~To pass on to your future apprentices, so they too can become a worthy member of StormClan
Nobility~To make the right choice for your clan as you lead it
Joy~In everything you do, to live these lives with satisfaction"

The cat now backed away, eyes gleaming. "Silverstar. You are now the leader of StormClan." Silverstar felt a certain power surge through her every bone. She felt invincible, like she could do anything. But now the cat eyed her with a serious stare. "But there are troubles coming in the future. Already danger lurks. Be on your toes, Silverstar..." then the cat began to vanish once again, but Silverstar called out, "Wait! Who are you?" The cat paused. "I am you, Silverstar. I am Whitestar, and Owlstar, and Ashstar. I am every cat that runs free in this forest. I am the warrior spirit." The spirit uttered the last words in a whisper. "And I am always with you." With this, the cat vanished, leaving Silverstar to again rise, and be jolted from her dream.

Silverstar stood up, amazed and shocked by her dream. The spirit's warning still lurked in her heart, but that was not her concern right now. Silverstar had been following the ritual of fasting when visiting the Moonstone, and she was famished. Silverstar left the cave, exited the narrow tunnel, and ran out into the moonlight, energy surging through her paws. She was truly a leader now.
